About
Kalee Quiñones is a screenwriter based in Los Angeles who specializes in thrillers and slice-of-life dark comedies. Her writing is often centered around complex female and queer characters. She grew up in college town, Lawrence, Kansas where she wrote for the art center's black box theater, hosted karaoke, and worked at historic Liberty Hall Video.
Kalee has written two pilot specs and is currently directing and producing Blood Moon, an experimental queer sci-fi short she wrote. She’s sharpened her writing toolkit with classes like Robert McKee's Story Seminar, Script Anatomy's Televisionary, and UCB’s Sketch 101. Her approach to character development stems from her acting background - she studied at Lee Strasberg and The Groundlings.
Beyond screenwriting, Kalee works in film exhibition and post production. She handles 35mm film traffic and projection at Vidiots and her post experience includes assistant editing award-winning projects like Saturn, What We've Become, and the Red Bird web series, Post Project Coordinating Xbox Showcase 2023, and editing multiple shorts. When she's not developing character-driven narratives, you might find her seeking out weird rep screenings or watching French films with her cats.
Kalee is actively seeking representation and opportunities to join writer's rooms for thriller and dark comedy series.
